HowardSimon Retirement (HSR), a Strongpoint Partner, is seeking an experienced Defined Benefit / Defined Contribution (DB/DC) Plan Administrator. The Plan Administrator is responsible for overseeing a caseload of clients, primarily 410(k)/Cash Balance Combo plans. Day to day responsibilities include managing annual workflow/administrative deadlines, compliance testing, contribution calculations, preparing actuarial valuations for review, 401(k) plan reconciliation, government reporting, and responding to day-to-day client inquiries. This position will perform all levels of compliance testing and government reporting, and provide guidance to clients on plan design, contribution structure, and evolving legislative requirements. What you'll do:
- Ability to perform A-Z administration and to independently manage a caseload of approximately 50 401(k) / Cash Balance clients of (exclusive of 401(k) loan & distribution processing & plan documents/amendments).
- Understand and interpret elements of Defined Benefit / Cash Balance Plan actuarial valuation & be able to communicate issues to in-house actuaries and clients
- Prepare and facilitate PBGC filings for covered Defined Benefit Plans
- Maintain industry knowledge and share information with client and team members
- Keep up to date with changing 401(k) & Defined Benefit Plan legislative requirements
- Read and interpret legal plan documents and amendments
- Discuss plan design changes and options with clients
- Review and import census data and reconcile participant account data, including “receivable” contributions
- Prepare 401(k) valuations/trust accounting/government reporting on an accrual basis.
- Perform and understand ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) combo non-discrimination testing
- Coordinate year-end valuation and government reporting, including asset reconciliation/Trust Accounting for plans maintained on recordkeeping platforms
Who you are:
- 4+ years of retirement plan experience, but would consider less experience from the right motivated individual
- Excellent knowledge of ADP/ACP, 415, 410(b), Top Heavy and 401(a)(4) non-discrimination testing
- Knowledge of Defined Benefit / Cash Balance actuarial valuation reports & PBGC filing requirements
- Knowledge of advanced cross-testing concepts and ability to perform testing to determine the most cost-effective solutions to meet nondiscrimination requirements
- Ability to perform accrual-based trust accounting for Form 5500 purposes
- Familiarity with cross-testing concepts
- Familiarity with accrual based trust accounting for Form 5500 purposes
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook
- Experience with Relius is preferred but not required
- Ability to utilize and keep current CRM software
- Organized individual able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and be detail-oriented
- Exceptional approach to client service focusing on communications, timely solutions, and client needs

- Strong verbal and written communication skills internally and externally

Preferred Qualifications:
- ASPPA and/or NIPA credentials preferred, or willingness to work towards credentials
