We are seeking a highly motivated, critical, and creative individual to join the CareDx R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative R&D team delivering cutting-edge technology directly to clinicians. The primary function of this position will be to drive development of innovative diagnostic solutions for transplant recipients through a variety of technologies for analyte measurement. The ideal candidate will be able to develop new reagents to improve testing processes, working closely with cross functional teams including product development, bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, lab operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provide deep technical expertise to guide development of novel reagents and methods.
- Lead a team developing regents to enable measurement of a variety of analytes (DNA, RNA, proteins) in standard diagnostic matrices such as blood and urine.
- Manage scientists and research associates with expertise in reagents for high sensitivity product development using multiple technologies.
- Guide the design and execution of high-value reagent development
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders in product development, regulatory, and commercial to coordinate and align activities
- Build strong partnerships with collaborators by identifying potential academic and industrial partners to accelerate CareDx programs
- Drive projects; ensure that budget, timeline, staffing and other corporate/program objectives and goals are met
- Identify areas for assay improvement and propose and implement solutions
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and development for junior staff to form highly productive team members
- Ensure all work is performed and documented in compliance with applicable regulatory and quality practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline with 15+ years of experience, at least 10 years of industry experience, and 5 years of experience managing teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in reagent development for clinical diagnostics, ideally with Design Control experience
- Proven scientific leadership and management of high performing individuals and cross functional teams – direct experience managing people required
- Ability to collect requirements, plan activities and prioritize activities/assignments to supporting team members
- Able to identify risk and provide recommendations for risk mitigation in area of responsibility and at project level.
