Sr. Loan Accounting Manager

Our Sr. Loan Accounting Manager will leverage accounting and analytical skills, as well as an understanding of US GAAP, to oversee the entire loan accounting function at Prosper. This includes, but is not limited to, loan accounting, loan reconciliations, analytics, internal control compliance and technical research and documentation.
The successful candidate needs to have a strong knowledge of loan accounting and data management tools, such as Google Cloud Platform. Additionally, the candidate will need to have the ability to improve operational efficiency, work with cross-functional teams, and investigate and resolve issues, all with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. This role reports to the Corporate Controller.

Problems You Will Solve


  • Oversee the entire loan accounting function of the monthly, quarterly and annual book close processes, monitoring timely completion and resolving or escalating issues for resolution.
  • Prepare accounting entries and account reconciliations for various financial activities including borrower and investor payables/receivables, revenue/contra-revenue, securitization accounting, loan servicing, and debt sales.
  • Review journal entries and other work performed by other accounting staff and ensure that the work completed is in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly financial statement fluctuation analyses for management reporting.
  • Assist with or prepare schedules to support regulatory and management reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Work cross-functionally with and support our business partners by providing financial insights and relevant reporting.
  • Assist with documentation and information required for year-end audit.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, establishment, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify areas for process improvement, provide recommendations, and execute on the changes.
  • Play an active role in systems upgrades and data testing.
  • Deliver on ad-hoc projects / deliverables as necessary.

About You


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Loan Accounting experience and strong problem-solving skills is required.
  • 8+ years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and application of GAAP accounting policies and practices. Experience with organizations providing consumer lending products ideal.
  • Detailed understanding of how data flows through the financial systems to the accounting function in order to identify issues and take action to address them.
  • Strong analytical skills along with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Motivated self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively as a member of a cross functional team.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to proactively roll up your sleeves.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) and experience with SQL or GCP.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.

$119,000 - $189,000 a yearCompensation details: The salary for this position is $119,000 - $189,000 annually, plus bonus and generous benefits. In determining your salary, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.#LI-AW1#IND1#LI-Remote
