About the role:
Rain AI is looking for an CAD & Design Environment Engineer to own the CAD tooling and design environments used for AI Accelerator development. This role will initially report directly to Rain AI’s head of hardware engineering. The manager will be responsible for taking design project requirements and procuring the proper tools, licenses, VMs and design environments. You will be responsible for owning relationships between the major EDA tool vendors and making appropriate purchases. Central the role is setup and maintenance of appropriate cloud environments for tool usage.
Responsibilities:
Set up and own several design environments suitable for the needs custom design, digital design and architecture development (SysC)
Work with engineering stakeholders to understand EDA tooling requirements and translate them into design environments
Set up cloud environments suitable for using multi-vendor tools, and make them easily accessible for Rain AI team members. Note: This may include usage of BYOC (bring your own cloud) with EDA vendors
Propose and obtain sign-off for version control processes
Own relationships with EDA tool vendors for purchasing of
Take project budgets and develop clear project descriptions and timeline
Own and maintain documentation for access to design environments, license checkout and version control
Provide systems support to teams using design environments
Qualifications:
5 – 10 years of experience in an CAD Engineer role and a BS in engineering or compute science
Experience establishing both cloud and on-prem VMs for design environments with tools from multiple vendors
Experience in setting up design environments from scratch (as you might find at a start up)
Experience with scripting in EDA environments
Experience with license management: License checkout and license servers
Self-starter: Track record of creating clear project plans and timelines that can be presented to leadership for sign-off
Excellent verbal and especially written communication for documentation of project plans and operating procedures

Compensation Range: $170K - $230K
