The Opportunity


Astra is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other accountants and assist with day-to-day operations of the Company’s accounting function, including month-end close and reporting processes. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, technical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment independently and collaboratively. You will be an integral part of our growing accounting team and must have excellent interpersonal and written communication, analytical, and organizational skills.

How You'll Fulfill Your Mission:


  • Own G/L accounting for Balance Sheet, Fixed Asset, and Income Statement accounts. Prepare journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations including but not limited to; cash, accounts receivable, revenues, prepaid expenses, lease liabilities, accrued liabilities, and other operating expenses
  • Support the Astra GL Accounting team with the month-end close process, including coordinating the preparation of the monthly management reporting package
  • Act as a cross-functional business partner to create improvements and optimize operational and month-end processes
  • Maintain key policies and procedures for your area of responsibility
  • Prepare audit processes, including schedules as requested by the auditors
  • Support for ad-hoc projects as required from time to time

Why We Value You:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (with emphasis in Accounting)
  • 3+ years of operational experience in accounting/GAAP
  • CPA track or public accounting experience
  • Discrete manufacturing industry experience
  • Good understanding of technical accounting and US GAAP
  • Microsoft Dynamics experience preferred or experience with Tier 1 ERP system
  • Excellent Excel skills, fluent with complex formulas
  • Systems implementation experience
  • Experience within a private company; demonstratable experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Discrete manufacturing industry experience 
  • Odoo and Adaptive Insights experience 

$74,800 - $120,700 a yearThe stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range in the San Francisco Bay Area and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.

ITAR Requirements: 

This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology  trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies.  All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws.  Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
