Senior
Product Counsel, you will be a trusted advisor, partnering with our product and engineering teams to navigate the legal and privacy regulation landscape, ensure the success of our industry-leading AI products, and drive the future of privacy technology. You'll play a key role in identifying and mitigating legal risks while advocating for innovative solutions that propel our business forward. Furthermore, as a subject matter expert, you will be a trusted advisor for GTM teams.
As a Senior Product Counsel, your role will include:
- Partnering with product and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond.
- Advising on intellectual property (IP) strategy, including patent prosecution, trademark protection, and copyright issues.
- Analyzing the legal implications of new features and functionalities, ensuring compliance with all applicable data privacy, security, and consumer protection regulations.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements relevant to product development, such as licensing agreements and vendor contracts.
- Stay current and advise the team on emerging legal and regulatory trends that may impact Relyance AI's products and services.
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders across various departments (e.g., Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success) as a subject matter expert to ensure alignment on privacy considerations.
- Manage outside counsel on complex research issues to drive business goals while managing time and costs effectively.
You will get the opportunity to:
- Use Relyance AI’s state-of-the-art product to drive and manage Relyance’s privacy efforts. This is an opportunity to work very closely with R&D teams to shape the future of privacy technology.
- Talk to a wide range of customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders to discuss the regulatory landscape, understand needs, and identify trends and strategic opportunities for Relyance AI.
This role could be a fit for you if you bring:
- J.D. degree
- 5+ years of experience in intellectual property law and/or at a technology company in a product counseling capacity is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act, etc.).
- Intellectually curious and excited to use and apply state-of-the-art technology to day-to-day privacy workflows.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and forge relationships with internal business partners and customers.
- Rigorous analytical skills with the ability to condense complex legal advice into clear and succinct oral and written advice.
- Team player with a collaborative and results-oriented approach.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience in artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML).
- Familiarity with product development methodologies (e.g., Agile).
- Experience with open-source software licensing.
- Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python).

We use data-driven pay practices with the goal of ensuring offerings are competitive to the market and our team members are being compensated correctly based on their roles, experience, and location. As such, the base salary pay range for this role is $175,000 to $195,000.
