ABOUT THE ROLE


We’re seeking a Public Relations professional with agency & client teams experience in project management. You will demonstrate strength in the ability to project manage and lead team members collaboratively with day-to day marketing, event and communications projects. The role requires travel in the U.S., including Puerto Rico, and Canada. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a strong benefit.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Specifically, this position will be responsible for:   


  • Serving as an event planner and the primary point of contact for local community events – including planning virtually and traveling to execute on-site events 

  • Understanding local Marketing and PR strategies  and applying those strategies
  • Potentially translating media materials and communicating with Spanish-speaking audiences

  • Collaborating and coordinating with multiple teams and partners to plan and execute events 

  • Participating in client projects and being responsible of their outcomes 

  • Influencing and participating in decision-making for client-facing projects  

  • Delegating and using inclusive language and behaviors  

  • Project managing independently and managing project team members (and external clients) on their deliverables  

  • Leading team members and clients  

  • Coordinating ordering and organization of items and vendors 

  • Resolving issues for unique on-ground problems/situations 

  • Preparing decks and other communications materials 


  • Consulting clients around key strategies and long-term Marketing and PR efforts  

  • Coordinating budgets and invoices for on-ground activations  

  • Managing client interaction and management across accounts, serving as the day-to-day client contact on certain accounts and projects.   

  • Managing budgets and billing for certain accounts and projects.   

EDUCATION


  • Bachelor’s degreerequired.  

REQUIREMENTS


The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating calm under pressure and having at least 3-5 + years of  Communications or Public Relations experience; with 1-2 years in an agency environment.  Required experience includes, but is not limited to:   


  • Leadership skills with managing teams via influence with experiences in using sound judgment.  

  • Decision-making skills including ability to ability to apply critical thinking to a simple or complex situation, analyze situations including short- and long-term impact, understand the available options, and recommend the best course of action among the options.  

  • Project management skills including time management prioritization and tracking, capabilities with creating strategies and tasks, organizing needs and prioritization the needs, comfort level with various PM tools/technologies.  Prefer Asana experience. 

  • Communication skills – able to communicate effectively and collaboratively across teams internal and external using multiple channels. 

  • Strong knowledge of target audiences, such as reporters, influencers or internal stakeholders and has begun working relationships with those contacts.  

  • Understanding of long-term communications strategy and messaging needs as well as the right channels/events to utilize to deploy materials. 

  • Has experience with effectively managing a minor crisis or navigating one with a team.  

  • Demonstrated success in securing media coverage (local, trade and/or national) and passion for media relations.  

  • Relevant knowledge of local media, national news, and industry trends  

  • Experience with and understanding of PR and marketing concepts and practices. This includes understanding of city politics and business, local media. 

  • Ability to have a keen eye for identifying potential opportunities for client 

  • Copywriting for member newsletters 

  • Knowledge of industry trends and current methods.  

  • Outstanding communication and writing skills and knowledge of AP Style  

  • Knowledge and proficiency with utilizing social media for storytelling, posts, and monitoring feeds (LinkedIn, Facebook etc.)  

  • Excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills and ability to multitask and execute through to completion.
