Summary:   
The School Psychologist at the Healthy Brain Network will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating no-cost diagnostic evaluations conducted for the Healthy Brain Network (HBN), an exciting initiative that also collects imaging, genetic, and phenotypic data from children and adolescents for research purposes. The School Psychologist will conduct evaluations at the HBN diagnostic center in Harlem. The comprehensive psychological evaluations can provide diagnosis and support IEP advocacy and include measures of cognition, executive functioning, academic achievement, language and social and emotional functioning.

The reports include home and school based recommendations and assist families with referrals. The position will also coordinate didactics and professional development opportunities for junior staff, and provide mentorship for research projects and graduate school guidance.  Reporting to Clinical Training and Assessment Manager this is an exempt full-time, hybrid (minimum 2 days in office) position located in our NYC headquarters office.   We’re dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders by giving them the help they need.

  • Conduct diagnostic and/or clinical assessments including:
  • Intelligence, achievement, and language testing (WISC/WAIS/KBIT/WIAT/CELF)
  • Structured Diagnostic Interview (KSADS)
  • Writing comprehensive feedback reports to include pertinent background history, cognitive testing results, and diagnoses based on semi-structured psychiatric interviews
  • Provide clinical feedback sessions with participants and parents including referrals and treatment recommendations (school-based treatment recommendations are provided)
  • Conducting safety assessments with regard to suicidality and abuse
  • Participate in weekly case conferences to present cases and consult with multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, social workers, clinical psychologists, and neuropsychologists
  • Contribute to development of referral network, recommendation database
  • Data collection for the HBN research database including administration of questionnaires and interviews. 
  • Coordination of didactics and development for junior staff (~15% of role)
  • Lead weekly didactics and develop curriculum for training initiatives 
  • Leverage the HBN dataset to conduct literature reviews, data analysis, and research projects
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff applying to graduate school and offer career guidance
  • Develop research projects with junior staff at HBN

Qualifications:   Education: 

  • Doctoral degree from an NASP-accredited program in psychology

Experience: 

  • Demonstrated experience working with children and adolescents
  • Strong experience in psychological assessment and report writing
  • Competencein DSM-V diagnostic procedures
  • Experience conducting research, including research methodology, statistical analysis and literature reviews
  • Strong crisis management skills. 
  • Able to work under pressure to prioritize and manage workload, manage simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
  • Proficiency in a second language is a plus
