Starship Technologies is revolutionizing deliveries with autonomous robots. These robots are designed to deliver food, groceries, and packages across college campuses and neighborhoods in minutes. Starship has now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles, and is currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Our contribution to society includes reducing congestion, and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses.
We’re hitting records on an almost weekly basis. Now is an exciting time to join as we grow rapidly around the world! We're looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the team. Unique chance to explore the technical aspects of leading-edge autonomous robotic delivery technology and work closely with the skilled engineering teams who build it.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Develop and maintain Starship’s cloud based infrastructure - AWS, Kubernetes, compute, networking and storage
- Automate and simplify infrastructure management. Integrate and reuse where possible, write code when you have to
- Continuously improve the reliability and scalability of Starship’s systems. Enable horizontal scaling, automatic failovers, canary deployments and more
- Design and implement networking solutions, connecting thousands of robots and other devices with backend services
- Ensure observability of the production environment. From simple metrics and dashboards to custom sidecars and distributed tracing
- Help define the architecture that scales to tens of thousands of robots, delivering goods 24x7
What’s in it for you?
- Opportunity to work on industry-leading self-driving delivery robot technology on a uniquely large scale, creating history and making things happen
- You can immerse yourself in the world of technology and innovation
- You will have a chance to work with people with a strong inner burning and motivation. We are self-aware and seek feedback and improvement. We don’t want to wait until we are told what needs to be done but take it as a matter of pride to figure out solutions for topics in various teams and areas
- You’ll have endless opportunities to learn from our inspirational, talented team members across the globe

- Have a solid understanding of operating systems, networks, databases and distributed systems. You know what makes it tick
- You have extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS or similar), understand cloud architecture best practices and security principles
- You enjoy working with Kubernetes, but also know your way around Linux systems
- Have experience with databases and messaging systems. PostgreSQL, MongoDB,Kafka are used heavily at Starship
- Alternatively, it is also great if you have a deep understanding of IP networks and protocols, VPN technologies, routing and load balancing
- Have good experience with Python or Go. These are what we use regularly, but you will also be expected to read code written in a variety of languages
- You enjoy troubleshooting and won’t let go until you find that tricky race condition or memory leak. You’re comfortable with a variety of troubleshooting tools, ranging from debuggers to distributed tracing and beyond
- Have a “let’s do this” attitude and strive towards pragmatic, yet maintainable solutions
- You are equally good at achieving results independently as well as through teamwork
