About the Position


We are seeking a talented and highly motivated individual with a strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to join our medicinal chemistry group in the pursuit of novel small molecules to treat patients with unmet medical needs. Working closely with our computational chemistry and modeling group, the successful candidate will design and synthesize novel chemical entities optimized for potency, selectivity, pharmacokinetics and in vivo efficacy. As a member of a dynamic multi-disciplinary project team, this person will collaborate with a broad group of scientists within Nurix and with external collaborators.

Qualifications and experience


  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry with 0-5 years of industry experience, or BS/MS with 10+ years of industry experience.
  • Exceptional synthetic organic chemistry and problem-solving skills with a high degree of productivity, self-motivation, and follow-through.
  • Conversant with recent organic chemistry literature.
  • Expert in carrying out reactions, including those that are air or moisture sensitive, purification by methods such as normal and reverse-phase chromatography, and characterization of reaction mixtures and final products by techniques such as LC/MS and NMR.
  • Ability to work on mg to multi-gram scale and troubleshoot difficult chemistry.
  • Previous experience with structure-based and computational drug design is highly desirable.
  • Strong track record of innovation and impact on projects as evidenced by publications, patent applications, or direct contributions to program milestones/transitions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with team members from diverse scientific groups and areas of expertise.
