The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight shipments, managing driver assignments, and ensuring efficient delivery operations.
This role requires a keen understanding of intermodal logistics, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Coordination: Work closely with customers to arrange freight shipments and delivery times, ensuring timely and accurate service.
- Driver Management: Determine driver capacity and review dispatch systems to assign drivers efficiently, ensuring all loads are dispatched promptly.
- Container Tracking: Monitor SSL import and export containers, keeping accurate records of their status and locations.
- Communication: Assist drivers and keep co-workers informed of daily activities, addressing any issues that arise.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the manager.
- Availability: Must be available for weekend work and on-call duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of intermodal dispatching experience is required.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Houston ports and rails, including container sizes (20', 40', and 45').
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Geographical Awareness: Strong geographical knowledge of Houston and the state of Texas.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Language Skills: Bilingual candidates are a plus.The expected salary range for this role is $52,000 to $60,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
