Position Summary
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all areas related to the General Ledger (GL) accounting close. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated, articulate, professional, has strong attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced and growing organization. In addition, this person needs to be agile and be able to adjust to changing environments as new processes are being implemented. The ideal candidate will collaborate with other finance team members, actively support month-end activities, and ensure tight deadlines are met.
This position interacts with finance personnel, external auditors, accounting consultants, department managers, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including preparing general journal entries, accruals, account analyses, and reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts.• Oversee the AP function, ensuring timely payment of vendor invoices and assisting with vendor management, and growth and advancement of the Company’s purchase requisition process.• Support the Clinical and Manufacturing accrual journal entries in collaboration with the Associate Director, Accounting.• Prepare sales tax, business and property tax filings and other compliance filings as needed.• Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures, driving improvements in the internal control environment over operational accounting processes, systems, and financial reporting.• Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to obtain information and improve day-to-day close activities.• Ensure compliance with SOX 404 requirements and maintain documentation of key financial processes and controls.• Assists with the annual audit and quarterly reviews including preparing and gathering support.• Provide support for special projects, system improvements, or ad-hoc requests as they arise.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.• Minimum of 7 years of experience including a mix of public accounting and public biotech/pharma industry experience.• Strong understanding of general accounting standards and principles.• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.• Ability to efficiently and effectively prioritize and perform multiple projects while working with team members, as well as independently with limited direction.• Positive team attitude with a willingness to work on both smaller and larger tasks to help get the job done.• Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.• Skilled in Microsoft Office and close management tools.This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Brisbane, CA with an expectation of in-person attendance at least 2 days a week.
