Maintenance Technician - Diesel Mechanic Spec

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring that all diesel-powered equipment operates efficiently and safely.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication on diesel engines and associated systems.
  • Diagnose and repair engine malfunctions, fuel system issues, exhaust systems, and other mechanical problems.
  • Rebuild and overhaul diesel engines as needed, including disassembling and reassembling engine components.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance work, repairs, and parts used.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues in diesel engines and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems in diesel-powered equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Report any safety concerns or hazards to the maintenance manager promptly.
  • Work closely with other technicians and departments to schedule repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or maintenance technician with a focus on diesel engines.

    • Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
    • Technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field a plus.

    Specific Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of diesel engine operation, repair, and maintenance.
    • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and software for diesel engines.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts (up to 50 lbs.).
    • Capable of working in various environments, including outdoor conditions and confined spaces.
    • Ability to stand, walk, and work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods.
