TruffleHog is a popular open source tool used by security researchers all over the world to find leaky API keys and responsibly disclose them to affected companies. This provides income through bug bounty platforms like HackerOne to individuals that may otherwise have a hard time finding employment. This also prevents breaches from occurring, which can be very costly for companies to resolve.When we founded Truffle Security Co in February of 2021, we committed to continue to grow a community with security researchers around the world, and continue to provide free and open resources to support those that make the world more secure.

About the role


We are seeking our first two Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) to join our dynamic sales team. This crucial customer-facing role will be instrumental in driving our growth and success by identifying and qualifying new sales opportunities. You will be responsible for engaging with potential customers, understanding their needs, nurturing relationships and setting the stage for our sales team to convert leads into satisfied customers.

What you'll be working on


  • Qualify inbound leads by conducting thorough discovery to gather key information to understand their challenges and to vet whether leads meet qualification criteria to be passed on to an Account Executive
  • Nurture existing leads to drive progression through the sales cycle
  • Conduct rigorous market research and analysis, effectively using a variety tools, platforms, and strategies to identify potential customers within the security sector for targeted outreach campaigns
  • Develop detailed profiles for ideal customer segments to tailor messaging andconduct high-volume prospecting (via email, phone calls, social media, and other channels) to initiate conversations and maintain active engagement to nurture relationships
  • Build the outbound sales process from the ground up through various prospecting activities including cold calls, emails, and social media outreach to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Design creative, multi-touch outreach campaigns target ideal customer profiles through various channels to build relationships and generate interest in Truffle’s product offerings and solutions.
  • Utilize automation tools to streamline sales sequences and enhance outreach campaigns to continually build the sales pipeline
  • Own all follow-up for leads generated from company-sponsored events and industry conferences to nurture relationships with potential customers
  • Maintain an organized pipeline and follow-up processes using CRM software to ensure all sales leads are making their way through the pipeline properly 
  • Track and report on key metrics such as response rates, conversion rates, and pipeline growth 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to effectively position Truffle’s solutions
  • Be an expert of Truffle’s products and solutions to effectively communicate value propositions and answer prospects' questions
  • Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement strategies & targeted campaigns for lead generation and conversion

What we're looking for


  • 2+ years of sales experience, preferably within in a sales development role
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with prospects and convey the value of our solutions
  • Self-motivated and extremely ambitious, with a drive to achieve sales targets
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple leads, outreach campaigns and tasks simultaneously
  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce and sales engagement tools such as Outreach

Nice to have


  • Knowledge of open source software and/or software development
  • Previous experience in a fast-growing, fast-paced startup environment

Salary range:


The target base salary range for this position is between $63,000 to $74,000 for candidates in the United States. The total compensation for this role includes sales commission, with on-target earnings as $100,000. Starting salary will vary based on job-related skills, knowledge, and experience. Leveling will be determined during the interview process. You may also be offered a bonus, stock options, and benefits. These salary ranges are subject to change, and we encourage candidates outside of this salary range to apply.
