Corporate Council
Description of Position:
As a Corporate Counsel, you will play a crucial role in supporting our company in various tasks related to compliance, contract management, and legal documentation. Your detailed approach to work and strong organizational skills will contribute to the overall success of our legal operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities of the position include meticulously reviewing contracts, agreements, and legal documents that the company encounters, thoroughly examining each for potential legal risks, inconsistencies, and discrepancies. Provide sound legal advice with your deep understanding of contract law and legal terminology to our internal stakeholders, offering insights into contractual terms, rights, obligations, and potential legal implications. You may also draft contracts, crafting precise and legally sound agreements that align with both legal standards and our company’s overarching objectives.
Other duties may include:
- Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Collaborate with Compliance to ensure that that we are up to date on all relevant industry regulations and standards. Stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that impact the fintech industry.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, technology, and operations, to address legal inquiries and provide support on various projects.
- Maintain and organize records of contracts, amendments, and associated correspondence, ensuring that they are organized and easily retrievable when needed.
- Continuously assess and enhance legal processes, workflows, and documentation practices to promote efficiency and effectiveness.
- Help educate company staff on legal policies, compliance procedures, and best practices to foster a culture of legal awareness within the organization.
Qualifications needed to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or related field is preferred
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant, paralegal or in a similar role, preferably within the technology or financial services sector
- Familiarity with FinTech regulations, data privacy laws, and contract law is advantageous
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple projects on time
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical conduct.
- Positive attitude, proactive approach, the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of financial industry terminology and trends is a plus.
