Position: Tasting Room Sales AssociatePart-time, OxnardHourly $18/hour plus tips & commission on wine club membership salesShifts: 3:30-9:30 or 5:30-9:30 Sunday- Thursday. Closed Friday & SaturdayHerzog Wine Cellars offers a dynamic and inspiring environment where tradition and passion intertwine to create exceptional wines that reflect our rich heritage while embracing innovation.The Herzog Wine Cellars Wine Club in Oxnard, CA is seeking a Tasting Room sales associate with exceptional customer service skills and a proven track record of meeting sales goals.

Wine knowledge is a plus. We are continuously expanding the boundaries and creating new and exciting wines. From globally distributed brands to boutique programs of under 100 cases, every bottle that wears the Herzog name is produced in the family’s California winery.

What you will do:


  • Promote the sales of wine and non-wine merchandise.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Assist in preparing monthly wine club packages.
  • Assist with etching and bottle labeling as needed.
  • Unloading wine cases.
  • Ensure that all visitors are greeted immediately when they enter the Tasting Room and provided with experiences that build brand loyalty.
  • Serves wines in an appropriate manner, which is consistent with Tierra Sur training and standards.
  • Manage high volume wine and merchandise transactions.
  • Build relationships with guests to maximize the sale of wine, merchandise, winery tours, and experiences.
  • Create opportunities to sell other events, services and experiences offered on the property.
  • Provide guests with the background information on wines, merchandise, and the history of Tierra Sur through informal interaction and guided wine tours
  • Present the benefits of the Wine Club programs to guests and contribute to the growth of the Wine Club.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations including effective and appropriate communication, successfully manage traffic flow throughout the day, and ensure that guests are being engaged and entertained.
  • Prepare Wine Club boxes and shipments as needed.
  • Perform opening and closing duties.
  • Work as a team with other associates to reach set daily and monthly sales targets.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area.
  • This role does not have any supervisory duties.
  • Tasting Room Associates often work evenings and Sundays, as required.

What You Will Need to Succeed:


  • Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a wine tasting room, marketing, public relations, hospitality, or related experience is preferred.
  • Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and experience with POS systems
  • Self-starter with the ability to organize and manage several projects simultaneously and exercise judgment in prioritizing and handling responsibilities.
  • Strict attention to detail, responsiveness, sound judgment and proactive organization and planning skills.
  • Customer Service Skills: Internal and external customer focus, politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with members.
  • Professional Appearance.
  • Excellent customer service, verbal communication and listening skills and the ability to deal effectively across all levels of the business organization.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all members.

Compensation:


  • 18/hour plus tips
  • Commission for all wine club membership sales (paid quarterly)
