Position Description:
The ideal Controller will have relevant experience across multiple accounting and finance functions, preferably in a senior role. The Controller is responsible for the maintenance of and reporting on Hylaine’s financial records, ensuring they are timely, accurate, and in compliance with GAAP. The Controller will report to the CFO, execute financial reporting and audit processes, and may support or lead special projects to improve operational efficiency and aid in Hylaine’s continued growth.
What you’ll do:
- Manage the month end close process and produce monthly internal financial statements, quarterly unaudited external financial statements, and annual audited external financial statements for the Company in accordance with U.S. GAAP and in compliance with internal controls over financial reporting
- Review or prepare accounts receivable or accounts payable transactions
- Review or prepare payroll files
- Analyze or review Company legal documents
- Prepare reports related to KPIs and budget variances
- Support periodic tax reporting and budgeting/forecasting processes
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
- Research accounting, reporting, and disclosure issues, interpret and analyze impact, and apply as appropriate
- Review, maintain, and improve relevant key processes including use of accounting and operations tools. Continuously improve monthly close and other financial reporting processes by reducing manual efforts, automating source reports, and developing more streamlined processes.
- Lead and/or contribute to other projects self-initiated or assigned by others.
What you’ll need:
- At least three years of professional accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
- Proven experience with financial reporting. Closes books accurately and efficiently. Evaluates and analyzes financial statements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a broad set of accounting principles and techniques.
- Change Management: the ability to help people and teams with the transition or transformation of a function’s goals, processes, tools or technologies.
- Strategic problem solving and process mapping skills necessary to lead a process improvement project and visually describe the process.
- Advanced data skills including data quality and manipulation, interpretation, visualization and storytelling. Ensures consistency of information across multiple systems and platforms.
