Civil/Mechanical Engineer II/III (Gas)

As the Civil/Mechanical Engineer, you will be required to manage pipeline projects that meet and exceed our client’s expectations. This requires a high level of knowledge and experience working with pipeline design codes and safety requirements.
Ideally you will effectively communicate and coordinate project scope with clients and local municipalities as well as participate in project scoping, cost estimates, provide guidance for design plans, material selection, constructability, and calculations. **Please note this role will follow our hybrid schedule of 4 days in-office at our downtown Chicago office.

What you will do:


  • Design to client and regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage small to mid-size projects to schedule and budget. 
  • Keep Milhouse Engineering management advised of all quality, schedule, and budget variances in a timely manner. 
  • Manage subordinate or other discipline resources to quality, schedule, and budget requirements. 
  • Prepare project documents and reports. 
  • Maintain project files. 
  • Create and enforcing project quality plan. 
  • Data and document entry into various platforms. 
  • Report safety, health, and quality issues to management. 
  • Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation. 

What we are looking for:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and MicroStation. 
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards. 
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 schedule analysis. 
  • Familiar with discipline specific design software and design management systems. 
  • Knowledge of standard format specification development. 
  • Previous experience managing a large number of small deadlines. 
  • Must exhibit great communication skills and can speak internally and with clients clearly and effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial/business minded individual is preferred.
  • Must be adaptable to new concepts and can learn them quickly.
  • Must have experience with and be effective at managing project schedules and keeping projects on task to meet client deadlines.

Your background:


  • Four-year technical degree from an ABET accredited institution.
  • 4 plus years of relevant experience.
  • PE required.

$114,500 - $142,000 a yearThe actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
