About the Role:
As Global Supply Manager (GSM) for Mechanical Components, you will be responsible for on-time and low-cost delivery to CMs of all hardware components from multiple suppliers across the globe manufacturing with various technologies and materials. Superior vendor communication is essential, unapologetically demanding excellence in every interaction. The ideal candidate will have a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in at least injection molding, coating, die-cutting, stamping, machining, die casting.
Collaborating intensely with the Product Design team, the Mechanical GSM will be a core owner executing New Product Introduction (NPI) programs as well as Sustaining programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Management
Deepen existing and generate new strategic supplier partnerships to ensure reliable supply of high-quality mechanical parts.
Identify and qualify new suppliers with a focus on cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Maintain and enhance relationships with key vendors to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Material Expertise
Provide strong industry knowledge of plastic materials, coatings (painting, clear coat, soft touch etc), and injection molding techniques.
Collaborate with the Product Design team to select appropriate materials for NPI programs.
Cost Reduction
Lead cost reduction initiatives for sustaining programs by negotiating with suppliers and optimizing the supply chain.
Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
NPI Support
Work closely with the Product Design team to identify and source materials that meet design and performance requirements.
Ensure timely procurement of materials for NPI projects to support product launch schedules.
Quality Assurance
Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams to ensure that all sourced materials meet the company’s quality standards.
Address and resolve any quality issues related to supplied materials.
Market Analysis
Stay updated on market trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices related to mechanical parts and materials.
Conduct market analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably in the consumer electronics industry.
Strong knowledge of plastic materials, coatings, and injection molding techniques.
Proven experience in vendor management and cost negotiation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel internationally to supplier locations
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
