Previously known as Obol Labs, our work on distributed validators (DVs) boosts the security, resilience, and decentralisation of the Ethereum network.

The Products
DV Labs develops and maintains three core products:Charon, a Golang based middleware client enabling multiple nodes or parties to run validators together, in a fault-tolerant manner.The DV Launchpad, a web interface for launching and managing Distributed Validators.Obol Splits, a set of solidity contracts assisting with the formation of Distributed Validators, by allowing the ETH bond and validator rewards to be split across multiple parties.

DV Labs supports the Obol Collective: a community dedicated to scaling Ethereum by strengthening the security, resiliency, and decentralisation of the consensus layer through the development and deployment of distributed validators.
Mission of the role
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Vice President of Engineering to oversee all technical activities and lead our engineering organization, including engineers, related professionals, and support personnel. This leader will demonstrate exceptional engineering competence, strategic vision, and leadership, ensuring that our technical teams deliver world-class software while fostering innovation and maintaining the highest engineering standards.The mission of the VP of Engineering at DV Labs is to bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic goals, define the "who, how and when" of building our software suite, and drive the organization towards achieving its technical and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the technical vision and strategy, aligning with DV Lab’s business goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams.
- Define and oversee the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the stability and scalability of the platform.
- Work closely with the CTO and DV Labs execs to define and execute the technical vision and strategy, aligning it with the company’s overall objectives and goals.
- Promote a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture that emphasizes accountability, quality, and innovation.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics for the engineering organization, ensuring high levels of productivity and quality.
- Lead the integration of security best practices into all aspects of the engineering process, maintaining a security-first mindset.
- Oversee the response to technical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Keep up with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and driving their adoption where appropriate.
- Attend client calls.
- Work with Product to facilitate roadmap forward planning.
- Ensure alignment between technical execution and business goals, setting clear expectations on delivery timelines and outcomes.
- Contribute technically to projects, including coding, code reviews and testing.
- Spend time hunting down bugs, pairing with teammates, reading software updates, ensuring development is following DV Labs Software Development Principles.
- Provide proactive visibility and effectively communicates delivery targets, commitments, and progress.
- Play a significant role in the technical hiring processes.
- Participate of the technical interview process, recommend profiles, share the roles with the network, etc.
- Collaborate with the People team to identify and develop internal talent, ensuring continuous professional growth and succession planning.
- Represent DV Labs at industry conferences, MeetUps, and other events to network.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology having professional experience in the web 3 ecosystem.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development and architecture.
- Ideal Time zone from GMT-8 to GMT+3.
- Personality wise we are looking for an empathic, growth mindset and problem solver person with natural leadership skills.
Nice to have- The ideal candidate would have a technical background in a field related to distributed systems engineering or cryptography, to better understand DV Labs and the Distributed Validator Technology subject matter.
