Sterile Compounding Pharmacist - Lab Manager

Mixlab is a fast-growing veterinary compounding pharmacy. We are hiring a Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to serve as Lab Manager for our Texas sterile compounding lab. We are looking for a leader who is obsessed with details and are driven by an ability to #makeithappen for our customers and their furry (or scaly!) friends no matter what. You will be an integral part in helping us to ensure our TX operation run smoothly, and to make Mixlab a 100% dependable resource for our customers and veterinarians alike.
This is a full-time, salary role with a base compensation of  $142,000-152,000 per year. Pay is determined by individual qualifications, licensure, experience, and skillset. Relocation assistance is available for candidates within the state of Texas.

Responsibilities


  • Operational
  • Rotate operational duties with the other pharmacy leaders. Duties include:
  • Run daily huddles
  • Move staff as needed to hit daily goals; record staffing
  • Handle any exceptions, urgent orders Monitor Productivity and Quality Metrics
  • Smooth operational bottlenecks with supporting teams (Quality, Care, Logistics)
  • Communicate updates and changes to the department 
  • Point person for the sterile compounding lab to ensure we meet quality and productivity expectations 
  • Compound medications, fill and label prescriptions, and package medications 
  • Keep accurate records and monitor inventory levels in accordance with USP 797, State Board of Pharmacy regulations and company policies and procedures
  • People
  • Manage a team of sterile compounding technicians and leads
  • Conduct monthly check ins with direct reports to review performance goals, discuss career pathing, and general progress
  • Coach and train team members through shadowing sessions
  • Review and approve timecards, time off requests, and expense reimbursements
  • Interview for new pharmacy team members
  • Projects
  • Conduct as needed root cause analysis on quality and process breakdowns 
  • Work with PIC, other leads or departments on pharmacy specific or cross functional process improvement projects  
  • Represent the TX pharmacy on seasonal and special projects along with participating on any standing meetings
  • Research new formulas, ingredients, equipment and products

About You


  • You have 2-4 years experience managing people in a compound pharmacy
  • You have 3-5 years experience a pharmacist in a sterile compounding lab
  • You have a customer-focused (and in our case, a pet-focused!) mindset
  • You thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • You are a TX-licensed pharmacist, in good standing with the TX State Board of Pharmacy. Additional state licenses are a plus!
  • You have excellent communication skills - both written and verbal - and are a collaborative, team-player
  • You have an all-hands-on-deck attitude with an ability to remain calm and excel under pressure
  • You have the ability to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures
  • You constantly strive to “wow” clients and patients
  • You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • You are scrappy and resourceful
  • You’re not afraid of wearing multiple hats - you pitch in to help the team when necessary
  • You have flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
