All ideas are welcome, everyone has a voice here - unused employee genius is a big waste!THE OPPORTUNITY:The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Hardware Configuration & Refurbishment Technician is responsible for the setup, configuration, and refurbishment of IT assets. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various hardware and software systems.This is a full-time position M-F 8am-5pm.THE DAY TO DAY:Device Provisioning and Configuration
- Access and utilize IT Asset Management (ITAM) software for asset management
- Provision devices using automated deployment tools (e.g. Autopilot)
- Configure special builds on demand (e.g. for radiology or other specialized depts)
- Ensure all products are properly labeled with correct SKUs and asset tags
Hardware Refurbishment
- Test, validate, and reimage equipment received from disposal jobs and ITAM returns
- Prepare refurbished equipment for redeployment
- Perform necessary repairs and upgrades on returned hardware
- Clean and sanitize equipment to meet quality standards
- Package equipment for redeployment when completed
Quality Assurance
- Conduct thorough testing of configured and refurbished devices
- Verify functionality of all hardware components and installed software
- Ensure compliance with company standards and client specifications
Documentation and Reporting
- Document RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) details
- Submit RMA information to purchasers and vendors
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed on assets
- Generate reports on refurbishment activities and asset status
Warranty Management
- File warranty claims for defective equipment
- Track warranty claim status and follow up as necessary
- Coordinate with vendors for warranty repairs or replacements
Inventory Management
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory of spare parts and components
- Report low stock levels of frequently used parts
- Organize and manage the technical work area
Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance to other team members when needed
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Escalate complex problems to appropriate IT teams
Process Improvement
- Identify and suggest improvements to refurbishment and configuration processes
- Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in IT asset management
- Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills
Compliance and Security
- Adhere to data security protocols when handling assets
- Ensure proper data wiping procedures are followed for all refurbished devices
- Comply with environmental regulations for proper disposal of electronic waste
Collaboration
- Work closely with the ITAM Inventory team to coordinate asset flow
- Communicate effectively with project managers and clients regarding special configurations
- Assist in training new team members on technical procedures
THE VITALS:
- 1+ years of experience in IT hardware configuration and refurbishment
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
- Familiarity with automated deployment tools (e.g. Autopilot)
- Experience with various hardware components and their installation
- Understanding of IT asset management principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The ability to stand in one place for extended periods of time without fatiguing.
- Ability to work and look at a computer screen for extended hours per day.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for consecutive hours.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50+ lbs.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- The ability to pass a drug test/background screen with no prior convictions of theft related felonies in the last 7 years.
- The ability to speak/read English fluently.
