About the team:


We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile IT Systems Engineer to join our growing IT Engineering team. Reporting to the Sr. Systems Engineer, Team Lead - you will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our internal enterprise information systems, supporting core organizational functions. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all corporate SaaS, Cloud infrastructure and associated operating systems. As a Systems Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional business partners throughout the software lifecycle to implement, own, and manage optimal solutions as we continue to scale.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage and engineer the core enterprise technology stack, including infrastructure (AWS), client engineering, email, communications, collaboration tools, Identity & Access Management (IAM), and content management using various SaaSOps tools.
  • Focus on system engineering and automation to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention, and enhance overall system efficiency and reliability across the organization.
  • Design and implement security measures such as authentication protocols, zero trust, and data encryption programs to safeguard systems and infrastructure.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance through regular patch management, security audits, backup procedures, and troubleshooting, supporting escalated Tier 3 issues for global internal users.
  • Assess and improve the effectiveness of existing systems, performing cost-benefit and ROI analyses to guide management decisions, while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards for both in-house and third-party vendor systems.
  • Document system configurations, processes, and service records, aiding in the optimization and maintenance of our infrastructure, including Terraform Infrastructure as Code orchestration.

Your profile:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, complemented by relevant certifications such as Network+, CISSP, and AWS or Terraform Certifications.
  • 4+ years of experience in system engineering roles, including expertise in Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and IT Automation Engineering, with strong proficiency in AWS cloud infrastructure including services like Lambda, KMS, IAM, S3, EC2, and RDS.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing Mac, Linux, and Windows environments, alongside deep knowledge of networking and security protocols such as TCP/IP, VLANs, IPSEC, DNS, DHCP, SSL, VPN, etc.
  • Experienced in monitoring network traffic to detect and respond to threats, designing and managing Identity Management and SSO technologies (preferably Okta), and implementing Zero Trust security technologies.
  • Skilled in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, JavaScript, SQL, and in using Infrastructure as Code tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform.
  • Experienced with Workflow Automation & Orchestration tools such as Bettercloud, Okta WF, Sailpoint WF, Workato, Mulesoft, Tines, and expertise in security audits (ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC2, SOX).

Bonus if you have:


  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS services beyond the basics, such as detailed use of Lambda for serverless computing, optimization of S3 for data storage solutions, sophisticated configurations of EC2 for compute capacity management, and RDS for database services
  • Experience leading projects, particularly in deploying new technologies or significant system upgrades, showcasing the ability to manage timelines and cross-functional team collaborations
  • Proven track record of creatively solving complex problems, ideally in high-stress or critical system environments, demonstrating out-of-the-box thinking and solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills to diagnose and troubleshoot advanced technical issues, with strong presentation and communication skills, capable of working independently or as part of a team, and ability to be on-call beyond normal business hours.
  • Ability to effectively interface with multiple levels of an organization, serving as both an influencer and a collaborative team player, with a proven ability to perform and oversee complex tasks and prioritize effectively based on strategic goals.

The San Francisco base salary target range for this full-time position is $98,000 - $110,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in this location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
