POSITION
GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Discovery Biology team as Insectary Lead. The Insectary Lead will be responsible for driving efficient and high-quality insect rearing, cross-functional communication, scientific contribution, and specialized colony protocol development
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate and communicate effectively regarding stakeholder needs to meet project milestones
- Work collaboratively to establish rearing protocols for of new arthropod species of interest
- Establish Quality Control measures and system for insect colonies
- Contribute significantly to scientific discussions, serving as the expert on insect rearing
- Onboarding field collected species including quarantine and regulated organism procedures
- Assist Insectary Associate with colony maintenance
- Ensure safe laboratory operations and a safety-focused work culture
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 8 years of experience working with insects; 3 of those years leading an industrial insectary
- Experience developing and optimizing rearing protocols for varied arthropod species in an industrial setting
- Demonstrated agility as it pertains to change, delays, or unexpected events and be comfortable with a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deliver on time and within budget
- Must have outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills
- Must be a team player and have experience working in highly collaborative teams to meet project goals
- Must be comfortable working independently and cooperatively
- Must have demonstrated effective communication to establish productive relationships with stakeholders
- Must have excellent execution and follow through skills
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in entomology, biology, or related field
