Healthcare Data Specialist
AcuityMD is a software and data platform that accelerates access to medical technologies. Each year, the FDA approves ~6,000 new medical devices. We're backed by Benchmark, Redpoint, ICONIQ Growth and Ajax Health and we help MedTech companies identify how their products are used, understand why outcomes vary, and identify opportunities where physicians can better serve their patients.This role will be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and relevance of our healthcare data models by providing expert knowledge in healthcare billing, claims, and clinical processes.
You will do this by translating healthcare billing and claims information into actionable data requirements, while providing domain expertise and serving as a healthcare subject matter expert. You will report to the Engineering Manager, Data, and work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and other teams.

Responsibilities
Healthcare Data Interpretation and Requirements Definition:
Translate complex healthcare billing and claims information into clear, documented data requirements for our engineering team.Ensure accurate interpretation and utilization of healthcare data across all projects.Healthcare Domain Expertise and Analysis:
Conduct thorough investigations into healthcare claims, billing codes (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), and reimbursement processes.Provide in-depth understanding and context for healthcare data nuances.Contribute to Data Quality Assurance:
Ensure our data approaches are consistent and truly representative of healthcare industry practices.Validate assumptions and hypotheses made by the engineering team regarding healthcare data.Knowledge Sharing:
Educate the team on healthcare industry trends, regulations, and best practices in data handling.Create and maintain documentation on healthcare data intricacies.Your Profile
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with healthcare data, preferably in a health insurance or healthcare provider setting.Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Health Information Management, Nursing, Public Health); advanced degree preferred.In-depth knowledge of healthcare billing, claims processing, and reimbursement methodologies.Expertise in various medical coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and their practical application.Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, Cognos, PowerBI, Informatica, Python) and advanced Excel skills.Nice to Haves
- Proficiency in database querying, preferably SQL.
- Familiarity with healthcare data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
You must have an eligible work permit in the USA or Canada to be considered for this position.
