ABOUT THE POSITION:
Responsible for auditing quality check support to the packaging lines. This role monitors bag quality to ensure consist of and safe products that meet company specifications are supplied to our customers.
SCHEDULE:
- 2nd Shift
- 8 hours per day with possible daily overtime and during peak summer/fall production.
WAGE: $19.00 per hour plus an additional $1.00 per hour for shift differential pay.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure meat, dates, tape, labels, and other supplies are correct per product specifications.
- Audit PIT who pulls random samples and perform leaker checks on bags; operating the fish tank to observe the bag for leaks.
- Audit PIT who inputs record leaker data and inform the packaging lead and machine operator, department lead and Quality Assurance Technician 2/3 if any leakers are discovered.
- Inspect bags to help eliminate or reduce product waste or rework, inspections may include but are not limited to hourly weight or count checks, oxygen level tests, and printed information verification (such as allergen statements)
- Raise any quality concerns to the operator, packaging lead or QA Tech 2 immediately.
- Record quality data for directed tasks.
- Audit the PIT who perform calibration verification checks of the in-line check weighers.
- Audit the PIT who verify the checks on the in-line metal and ageless detectors.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company.
- Maintain accountability to Oberto Brands Food Safety and Quality Principles.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Systems. Informs Management of any food safety or quality issues or of any processes which have become non-compliant with specified requirements.
- Back-up: The QA Tech 2 is back-up to the Packaging inspection auditor.
- Related job duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School (minimum)
- Background in food science or related science area preferred.
- Computer literacy
- HACCP (OJT)
- SQF preferred.
- Food Safety, Quality, Technical and Regulatory Training as needs determine appropriate.
- Position requires an understanding of food safety, quality, and SQF fundamentals provided through annual in-house and on the job training.
- Strong math skills
- Cooperative - work well with diverse groups
- Diplomacy Skills
- Analytical; proven problem-solving ability.
- Detail oriented - accurate.
- Able to work with urgency.
- Good oral and written communication skills
- English competency
