Director, Financial & Contracting Operations

Pearl HealthNew York, New York, United States | Boston, Massachussets, United StatesRemote, Onsite

Who we are. . .

Pearl Health is restoring the independence and joy of practicing medicine for doctors in the United States. Our healthcare system has burdened our doctors with too much process, while removing them from what they do best: caring for those we love most. We are a team of physicians and public health experts (Stanford, Dartmouth, Harvard, Mass. General), technologists (athenahealth, Apple, Amazon, Meta, Flatiron), healthcare innovators (Oscar, Aledade, Stellar, Arcadia) and experienced risk management professionals (CVS/Aetna, Humana, Cigna, United, Bridgewater) who believe that primary care providers (PCPs) are the key to the United States’ future health.

Our investors include Andreessen Horowitz, Viking Global Investors, AlleyCorp, and SV Angel. Pearl Health helps PCPs who are overwhelmed by the demands of an aging population and the unpredictable business model inherent to Medicare. Over time, this solution will empower PCPs to provide better care to the country. We believe there is a need to bring humanism back to healthcare by giving physicians the ability to better allocate their time with patients, increasing their autonomy, creating incentives that are aligned with achieving better outcomes through clinical decision-making powered by actionable intelligence, and making risk more available and more readily optimized through an intelligent marketplace.

The role. . .

We are seeking a systems & process-driven Director of Financial & Contracting Operations to join our Finance team. Your work will be a core asset of our company, allowing us to systematically manage complex financial arrangements with our physician clients. You should also be an effective communicator, working as a liaison to collaborate with multiple departments involved in operationalizing our contracts with customers, including Customer Success, Growth Operations, Product, Legal and Finance.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes, operations, systems, and tools related to client payments and contracting matters
  • Administration of contract management tooling; centralize the various stakeholders involved in client payments and create a structure that maximizes the team’s ability to operationalize, monitor and evaluate new and renewing client deal terms
  • Evaluate and implement an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool to help manage financial and contracting operational workflows, including close collaboration with the Controller to ensure strong financial reporting capabilities
  • Partner closely with the leadership and Customer Success teams on client performance reporting and provide insights into key deal levers for recontracting efforts
  • Drive efficiency, optimization, and automation of contracting processes and develop and document payment policies to standardize processes and strengthen internal controls

Who you are. . .

  • 7+ years of experience in financial operations, contract management, or related roles
  • You are extremely detail oriented and organized, thrive in a fast-paced work environment and seek to increase operational efficiency where you can
  • You have demonstrated experience in managing complex financial and contracting processes, as both a system builder and operator
  • You have experience with contract lifecycle management systems, ERPs and/or other system implementations
  • You are a self-starter: you thrive on taking ownership of initiatives with limited oversight
  • You're an experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and you have excellent communication skills
