About the position
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility, equipment and operating systems at the Liberty site.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Installs, repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical equipment in operation and corrects.
- Dismantles equipment and machinery and removes/replaces defective parts.
- Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and making requests.
- Safely operates hand tools and equipment to perform job tasks.
- Analyze problems to determine materials needed to complete task and transport materials to work area.
- Prepares maintenance reports/documents to collecting, analyzing and summarizing findings as part of Mechanical Integrity program.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area by complying with site procedures, rules and regulations.
- Safely operates mobile equipment to transport work and works from ladders, scaffolds, and lift equipment to install, maintain or repair equipment and complete work tasks.
- Assist other departments and crafts for a successful task completion.
- Perform demolition work on equipment that has been taken out of service.
- Observe and adhere to all safety policies and procedures and participate in plant safety processes. Ensure appropriate permits and/or LOTO’s are completed prior to working on equipment.
- Support and adhere to all quality management system requirements – including ISO-9001:2015 as relates to this job position.
- Maintain good housekeeping in assigned area and elsewhere, as required.
- Will be exposed to the elements (extreme temperatures), 70% or more of the workday.
- May be required to perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- HS diploma or equivalent is required.
- Solid multi-craft, general mechanical skills and experience – millwright, welding, simple electrical.
- Ability to install/align pumps, connect simple 3-phase equipment, and piping and valve installation.
- 3 years of experience minimum preferred.
- Ability to operate machinery and technical equipment.
- Good communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and respond to changing priorities.
- Must be able to work in a team environment as well as function independently.
- Ability to manage time and meet specified deadlines.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with other departments.
