Committed to excellence, we have ambitious 5-year goals and are actively seeking a highly motivated and capable Business Development & Sales Attorney to join our team in Houston, TX.
This full-time position reports directly to the Director of Marketing & Sales and will play a pivotal role in revenue generation.
We Need Your Drive and Precision
Are you an Attorney driven to get out of the office and focus on business development? Are you a detail-oriented, tenacious, and service-minded associate with a passion for sales and/or prior sales experience in the legal or professional services industry? As our ideal candidate, you are a licensed attorney with a firm grasp of sales in a legal or services firm, and a consulting mentality that will allow you to tackle obstacles and communicate professionally. You will have the ability to interact with individuals out in the field and in the boardroom – adjusting your approach to each situation.
You will thrive in a dynamic, small office environment in downtown Houston, where you will be able to work a hybrid schedule (one day remote per week) following the completion of a successful 90-day onboarding process. This role is 100% sales focused and will require travel up to 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition & Retention
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to generate leads and convert them into clients.
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and understand their legal service needs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients; ensure high levels of client satisfaction by addressing concerns with timely responses.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a seamless transition from sales to service delivery.
Sales Strategy Development & Delivery
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Sales, firm leadership, and our external sales training consultant to create and implement effective sales strategies.
- Develop sales plans and hit KPIs to achieve revenue goals.
- Analyze market trends to refine strategies.
- Participate in networking events, conferences, and industry seminars to promote the firm.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, including lead conversion rates, client acquisition costs and revenue generated.
- Utilize CRM software to track client interactions and maintain accurate records of all sales activities.
Client Consultation & Solution Development
- Work closely with the legal services team to understand the firm’s offerings and match them to client needs.
- Conduct initial consultations with prospective clients to assess their requirements.
- Prepare and present proposals, service agreements, pricing plans and letters of engagement to potential clients.
Position Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- 2+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
- Sales experience in the legal industry, oilfield services or professional services is preferred
- Experience with a CRM
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, analyze, organize, attend to detail, and follow through
- Ability to be coached by others
- Commitment to excellent client service
- Must be based in Houston
Software Application Experience
- Experience with HubSpot is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office suite applications, specifically MS Excel
