The Network Engineer is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and administering network infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient operation across the PMEL campus. This includes managing authentication services, performing network administration tasks, supporting secure remote connectivity, and handling network cabling and switch deployments. The Network Engineer will also manage network management software and enterprise client tools to monitor and report system status and activities.
Key Responsibilities: LAN Infrastructure Support:
Device Access and Authentication:
Configure and maintain access and authentication for devices using RADIUS, DDI, RAS, and VPN systems.
Assist in the operation of network services, including LDAP, Active Directory, and RADIUS authentication.
Perform network administration tasks such as adding and deleting users, controlling access rights, managing services, and monitoring the network.
Configure and administer network management software, including software metering, PC hardware and software inventories, and remote control of networked PCs.
Remote Connectivity Support:
Support secure remote connectivity through VPNs, ensuring reliable and secure access for remote users.
Configure and administer enterprise client tools used to monitor and report system status and activities.
Oversee campus-wide network cabling installation, maintenance, and documentation.
Switch Configuration and Deployment:
Configure and deploy phone closet switches, ensuring proper network connectivity and performance.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Proven experience in network administration and infrastructure support.
Experience with RADIUS, LDAP, Active Directory, and VPN systems.
Proficiency in configuring and maintaining authentication services and network management software.
Strong understanding of network protocols, cabling standards, and switch configuration.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools and enterprise client tools.
Certifications: - Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+) are preferred.

Network Administration: Maintain optimal network performance through effective administration and monitoring.
Remote Connectivity: Provide reliable and secure VPN support for remote users.
Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for network cabling, configurations, and administration tasks.
Communication: Collaborate effectively with IT team members and other stakeholders to address network issues and improve infrastructure.
Working Conditions:
Location: Primary location at the PMEL campus with occasional remote work as required.
Availability: Must be available to respond to network issues and emergencies as needed. After-hours support may be needed.
