Position Summary:The Data Center Technician Apprentice will assist senior technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of data center equipment and systems. This role is designed for individuals looking to start their career in the data center industry. The apprentice will learn and develop skills related to cabling, hardware installation, network systems, and environmental monitoring within data centers.Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation of data center cabling, including fiber optic and copper cables.
- Support senior technicians in mounting, racking, and configuring server hardware and network devices.
- Learn to troubleshoot and repair basic hardware and network issues under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Participate in routine maintenance tasks, such as equipment inspections, cleaning, and testing.
- Monitor environmental conditions within the data center, including temperature, humidity, and airflow, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Document work performed and update logs as required.
- Attend training sessions and complete coursework to develop technical skills relevant to data center operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or relevant coursework preferred.
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and networking principles.
