This is a remote opportunity, however location in / around the state of Virginia or within Washington, D.C. is strongly preferred. 


Overnight travel requirements estimated at 25%.


Kaléo has secured multiple contracts with the U.S. government for the development and production of new medical countermeasures, with commercialization opportunities to follow. We are expanding our Government Sector Business Unit (GSBU) to facilitate this growth. This individual will be responsible for supporting the management of projects and workstreams related to Kaléo’s U.S. and foreign government relations and military countermeasures initiatives. They will hold a highly visible role on the GSBU, working closely with internal and external cross-functional stakeholders.If you are a developing professional with a strong interest or previous background in government project management, a desire to work independently and have immediate impact, as well as the creativity to drive project initiatives forward effectively, you will thrive in this role! 

As Government Program Administrator, Global Health Security you will:


  • Assist the Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs, Defense, and Homeland Security in managing government sector workstreams and projects (Medical Countermeasures and government policy efforts), tracking all action items and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Support the review and management of all contracts, purchase orders, budget tracking, and monthly accruals, accurately and with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute to developing the team’s overall strategy, performing successfully to annual goals, and tracking outcomes / progress towards all tasks and objectives.
  • Collaborate independently with cross-functional internal and external partners to execute on government sector initiatives.
  • Contribute to internal decision-making and prioritization within tight timelines.
  • Work closely with team members across Government and Commercial sectors to align on strategy and execution.
  • Provide executive administrative support as needed, including scheduling and expensing.
  • Travel for key government meetings, trade shows, and business conferences in the US and abroad.

To be considered for the position, you must have:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or defense industry.
  • Previous experience managing large projects in a business setting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience managing contract metrics with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional preferred qualifications:


  • Previous experience managing vendors is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing government contracts and interacting with government stakeholders is preferred (particularly the DoD and/or BARDA).
