Springboard Collaborative invites talented and passionate candidates to apply for the position of Business Intelligence Analyst. The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for enabling data-driven decision making by transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic business outcomes. A successful candidate will be an experienced business intelligence or data analyst with expertise in data visualization tools like PowerBI and excellent skills in attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and data analysis.Springboard Collaborative closes the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school.

We coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by 4th grade. Springboard envisions a world in which parents and teachers work together—rather than in isolation—to accelerate student learning. The Business Intelligence Analyst supports this goal by providing critical insights needed to make informed decisions, optimize performance, and identify areas for growth. The Business Intelligence Analyst will report to the Head of Business Intelligence and work as part of the Leadership Support Team. Here are some potential priorities in the first year:


  • You will deploy new reports & dashboards on time and within budget.
  • You will increase usage of existing dashboards to meet targets.
  • You will deploy enhancements to existing dashboards and increase end-user satisfaction by 10%.
  • You will improve data accuracy and integrity by implementing data quality checks, reducing data errors by 10%.
  • You will resolve 100% of reported issues within established service-level agreements.

Here are your responsibilities within and beyond the first year:


  • You create dashboards and reports for Springboard Collaborative teams that drive action and enable strategic decision making.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and create user-friendly, visually compelling dashboards
  • Update and refine dashboards regularly to keep them relevant and aligned with changing business needs
  • Provide training and support to end-users to ensure effective utilization of BI tools and reports
  • You monitor key metrics and troubleshoot 
  • Set up monitoring to detect anomalies in key metrics and regularly audit dashboards to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Monitor dashboard and report usage metrics to identify areas for improving user engagement and adoption
  • Partner with cross-functional data stewards to diagnose and escalate issues promptly and communicate their impact to stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution and alignment
  • You analyze and present data to leadership and stakeholders across the organization.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data, and then develop reports and dashboards to communicate findings
  • Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions
  • Translate raw data into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through thorough validation and quality checks
  • Regularly present findings, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • You own processes that maintain data governance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices
  • Monitor data quality and compliance, identifying and addressing issues to proactively maintain high data governance standards
  • You manage business intelligence projects.
  • Lead and manage BI projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, set milestones, and execute
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and provide regular updates ensuring successful implementation of BI solutions

  • Analysis & Reasoning: You consistently and proactively examine data to grasp issues, consider hypotheses, intuit what kinds of data to gather, draw evidence-based conclusions, and present findings effectively. You translate complex data into insights and translate those insights into action.
  • Problem-Solving: You use data to solve organizational problems and are capable of identifying issues within data sets, troubleshooting, and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Communication: You actively listen to others, earn trust and maintain positive relationships across the organization, and communicate proactively. You gather requirements effectively and leverage Business Intelligence tools to transform complex datasets into clear, accessible reports and dashboards that support data-driven decision-making. You are adept at creating intuitive and informative visualizations that convey complex data in an understandable manner.
  • Valuing diversity, equity, & inclusion: You create and foster an organizational culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, using data to support and inform efforts to work toward org-wide DEI goals.
  • You have 4+ years of experience in business intelligence or similar roles. 
  • You are highly proficient in developing dashboards using PowerBI (or other data visualization tools)
  • You are highly skilled at building complex SQL queries to obtain and structure data for further analysis

It would also be nice if you had:

  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, including the design, development, and maintenance of these processes; integration of multiple sources of data into the warehouse; optimization of workflows to support timely and accurate reporting and analysis; and collaboration with data engineers and other teams to ensure seamless data flow. 
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical analysis and predictive modeling.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Systems Engineering, or other highly analytical field.

Compensation


Our compensation values: At Springboard, compensation equity is integral to the way we operate and our commitment to competitiveness, pay equity, performance-based rewards, transparent & equitable career growth, and progressive benefits.Compensation for this role: Each role at Springboard is placed in a compensation band with 5 levels. Generally, we expect strong candidates that meet all the hiring criteria to be offered the midpoint of the band. This role sits within Band 5. The midpoint of this band is $122,193.

The actual level of the successful candidate (and corresponding salary) will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, and other factors. You may also be eligible for Springboard's bonus program.Our process to determine compensation: Springboard does not negotiate the offered salary during the offer conversation. Throughout the interview process, we will evaluate your alignment with the compensable factors listed in the job description. From there, we will determine your starting salary on a level within the job band.

  • Technology - All employees receive a Springboard laptop and optional monitor. Springboard uses Google Workspace and Asana.

Location and travel


Applications are welcome from any location within the United States. This role can be performed remotely, with quarterly travel to participate in team and org-wide retreats. Springboard Collaborative’s headquarters office is in Philadelphia, PA.Springboard requires in-person employees at a Springboard facility or participating in in-person SBC programming or events to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of a CDC-authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen.

As a condition of employment, newly hired employees will be asked to provide their COVID-19 vaccination status and proof of vaccination, as required.
