Learn more about our focus on our people on our YouTube Channel, Sandalwood Engineering & Ergonomics.We're currently looking for an Engineering IT Liaison to join our growing team of engineering and ergonomics professionals in the South East Michigan area. Details about the role are as follows:This position will act as a liaison between the Powertrain Systems Engineering department and the Information Technology group to coordinate activities for key initiatives. Responsibilities include:• IT SPOC: Establish a productive working relationship and act as single-point-of-contact to streamline communication with the IT group.
Document, prioritize, and manage implementation of initiatives affecting Systems Engineering. Coordinate regular reviews of new, open, and closed topics with Engineering and IT leaderships, as well as continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities that could be further pursued with enhanced IT/Engineering support. • Data Governance: The department has large amounts of technical data and business information stored on share drives. The goal is to create information classes based on data attributes (usage, type, size, sensitivity, etc.) to determine appropriate storage strategy. In parallel, evaluate existing company file sharing tools (MS Teams, One Drive, SharePoint, shared drives, social intranet), make recommendations, and establish best use practices.• SharePoint Restoration: The department has multiple legacy SharePoint sites that are migrating to SharePoint Online. The goal is to update the sites with improvements including, but not limited to, reflecting current organizational structure and projects, and eliminating obsolete links. Additionally, the updated sites should leverage local and global partner SharePoint sites of collaborating departments to minimize redundancy.• Digital Communications: Continue support of Detroit Powertrain Engineering social intranet site, developed in coordination with department managers to facilitate a push information exchange to the department. Activities include site development / enhancement, population of site content (as needed), and procedures for regular updates of department level news and information by the content owners.Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
- Strong technical / computer skills, including:
- Highly proficient using Microsoft Office / MS Office 365
- SharePoint / MS Teams site development and configuration
- Understanding of relational database structures and standards
- Web page development and configuration
- Experience with low-coding tools (e.g. JavaScript, Python)
- Ability to obtain and report business and technical requirements
- Demonstrated ability to formulate solutions, develop a comprehensive plan of action, and obtain buy-in from stakeholders at various management levels, across multiple teams and disciplines
- Experience planning and executing projects using both agile and waterfall methodologies
- A professional manner with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-starter with a detail-oriented team player approach
- Ability to establish priorities, working both independently and in team settings
- Experience with automotive product development, major vehicle and powertrain components and electronic control modules, and commercial vehicles
