The Center for Global Development, an independent, nonpartisan research organization based in Washington, DC and London, seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Communications Assistant to join our fast-paced communications team in DC. You will play a central role in the team’s processes and functions, primarily around digital content, events management, and contacts organization. You will also support the team through additional web-based, multimedia, and administrative assignments as needed. Responsibilities:
Digital content and publications
- Support the senior editor and publications manager in coordinating the formatting, review, and online posting of CGD’s numerous and frequent digital publications (working and policy papers, briefs and notes).
- Post blog posts, publications, and other content updates to CGD's website.
- Maintain CGD's digital publications database.
- Support CGD's occasional book publishing program as needed, including compiling catalog data.
Events
- Support the events producer in the full range of activities related to carrying out CGD’s public and private events: planning with staff; preparing and sending email invitations and managing related web-posting; greeting and registering guests; and supporting IT and multimedia teams to execute events.
- Assist and develop expertise in the maintenance and effective deployment of CGD’s events and contacts database, by updating records, undertaking quality-control measures, and preparing campaigns.
Media & Other Team Support
- Provide general support to CGD's communication team on social media content or multimedia production.
- Provide general support to CGD’s communications team on social media content or multimedia production.
- Assist communications managers in building media lists for specific projects and maintaining CGD media contacts database.
- Review and tag CGD’s media monitoring, and produce regular coverage reports as instructed.
- Help maintain and update the team’s internal project management system.
- Contribute to managing shared email inboxes.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field, and 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated interest in communications for international development/foreign policy.
- Experience with HTML/CSS and familiarity with website content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, etc.) a strong advantage, knowledge of Salesforce or other CRMs, and mass email systems like Pardot or Mailchimp a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding organization and time-management skills - ability to multi-task and prioritize workload, exacting attention to detail.
- Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) or other audio/video software skills a plus
Salary range:
Salary range: $54,340 - $56,000. Pay commensurate with education, skillset, and experience.

The organization is working hybrid with all staff required to be in the office at least two days per week. CGD is registered to employ staff living in DC, Maryland, Virginia.
