Construction Manager Job Description
EnSiteUSA Renewables is seeking an experienced construction manager who can put their expertise to work on two concurrent Solar PV projects. This person will be responsible for overseeing both projects simultaneously and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and city inspectors. The construction manager will ensure compliance with all national and local procedures, regulations, and codes, and will provide progress updates to the Project Manager on a regular basis.
The construction manager will be expected to drive the quality of work we’re known for.Objectives of this role
- Provide Leadership on projects including coordinating activities and ensuring that all work is in sync with project goals and objectives.
- Provide direction to subcontractors, and vendors when as it relates to the installation process to ensure that quality standards are being met
- Liaise with Project Management internal engineers to verify specifications.
- Prepare and manage estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources.
- Identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues.
- Adhere to legal regulations, building and safety codes, and other requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal engineers, and other specialists; hire full-time and part-time subcontractors and laborers and coordinate their schedules.
- Be onsite daily during construction — including in-progress audits, Inspections, and punch walks.
- Conduct impromptu onsite coordination meetings with subcontractors.
- Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable, and safety policies are being followed.
- Maintain and update construction documents and exceed owner expectations and obligations.
- Respond efficiently and effectively to work delays, construction issues, and other project disruptions.
Required skills and qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in managing solar PV projects.
- Knowledge of solar construction methods and technologies and an ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts.
- Knowledge of building-code requirements and scheduling methods.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with an eye for quality.
- Knowledge of construction worksite safety practices.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in engineering or construction management.
- Working knowledge of solar structures and electrical installation.
Construction Manager Metrics

- Train, mentor, and provide leadership to personnel assigned to you by the company. Instill expectations leading to high performance by subcontractors in Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
- Record end of day work metrics and update Project Manager with end of shift records per company procedures.
- Complete required documentation to maintain execution planning to include task work packages, material takeoffs, schedule updates, and RFI correspondence.
- Maintain project documentation according to company processes and procedures.
- Update any project tracking maps deemed necessary by the PM.
- Coordinate with QA/QC on inspections of completed work and any remediation identified during inspections to ensure timely turnover to client.
