Founded in 2004, Brilliant Corners provides innovative housing and housing-related services to California’s most vulnerable individuals, with an emphasis on those transitioning from, or at risk of, homelessness or institutionalization. We develop, own and manage multi-family supportive housing and licensed residential care homes, and implement a broad array of scattered-site, one-on-one supportive housing, and clinical case management programs through partnerships with developmental services, homeless services, veterans’ services, and health care sectors.In short, we do good work.We have offices statewide and are growing daily.

Position Summary


The Senior Development accountant is an integral part of our growing Finance team. This position will have responsibility for all aspects of development accounting (single-family and multi-family real estate development) and is the primary accounting liaison to the Housing Development teams, co-managing monthly closings, and will work closely with the Asset Management team. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, a problem-solver, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities


  • Managing development cash accounts, acquisition closings, development draws, payables, and project/budget reconciliations.
  • Provide oversight and tracking of internal and external borrowings
  • Assist with the creation of new development ownership entities and funding sources in the accounting system.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc reports for the Asset Management department.
  • Assist and manage the process to develop program, project, and organization budgets.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Assist with outside auditors and government agencies on contract issues
  • Manage and perform other various accounting activities including revenue recognition and capitalization analysis.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Managers on managing monthly closings and prepare related journal entries.
  • Other duties to be assigned.

Requirements


Professional Experience


  • Three to five years of progressive accounting experience required. Knowledge of real estate development accounting, preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to Tax Credit and other affordable housing programs, preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Adaptive Insights, preferred
  • 3 plus years of experience
  • Strong computer and math skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work with time sensitive material and meet multiple deadlines
  • High attention to detail and effective prioritization skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and US accounting principles and practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, preferred but not required

Physical Requirements


Candidates should have physical mobility for tasks such as standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and walking on uneven surfaces. They should be capable of performing stationary tasks like sitting for up to 6 to 8 hours a day. Additionally, candidates should be able to lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 15 pounds safely. Requires mental acuity for analytical reasoning and document interpretation.Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $94,000 yearly.
