Role Summary:
As the Head of Finance, you will oversee all financial activities, from strategic planning to daily operations. This includes overseeing financial planning and analysis, accounting, and financial reporting. You will play a crucial role in shaping the company's financial strategy and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.The job requires being extremely hands-on while maintaining oversight and actively contributing to strategic matters. You'll be working with a highly motivated team and reporting directly to the leadership team.
You will also work closely with other teams to make data-driven financial decisions and manage risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the company's financial strategy to align with its long-term goals.
- Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Manage and optimize daily accounting operations.
- Prepare and supervise accurate financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Design and monitor financial controls to mitigate risk and safeguard company assets.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations, accounting standards, and cryptocurrency industry trends to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Manage accounting systems and crypto-specific platforms to track token movements across exchanges and DeFi applications on-chain.
- Oversee the consolidation of financial statements from multiple entities for tax filings.
- Oversee internal audits and manage relationships with external accounting firms.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Experience managing a finance and accounting function at a high-growth company, preferably within the tech or blockchain industry
- Strong understanding of financial management of decentralized or blockchain-based companies
- Broad knowledge of GAAP and understanding of US tax regulations
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- An analytical mind with good organizational skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure and adapt to a rapidly changing startup environment
Nice to haves:
- Experience scaling accounting and finance organizations
- A strong understanding of cryptocurrency is beneficial, but not essential
- Web3/DeFi background
