Job Summary
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out necessary equipment, buildings and ground repairs (i.e., Boilers, chillers, compressors) including facility PMs, and utility operations associated with our facilities. Ensure the continued efficient operation of Granules Pharmaceuticals Inc. by providing service and support to all equipment, and all manufacturing areas in order to keep our facilities in compliance with GMP standards.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Safely and effectively maintains all equipment and support systems based on a thorough understanding of the manuals, drawings, and operating procedures; collaborates and considers input from other associates as needed.
- Operation and maintenance of Steam boilers.
- Operate, maintain, and repair plant utilities as follows: Air handling equipment and systems; Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems; Boilers (steam and hot water), plant steam, and plant hot water; Chillers and chilled water systems; Air compressors, air dryers, and compressed air systems; Nitrogen system; Domestic hot and cold water system; Natural gas systems; USP Purified Water and distribution systems; Clean steam generator and clean steam systems; Plant sewer and waste neutralization systems.
- Maintain production equipment to include completing scheduled PMs, routine repairs, and assisting vendors with the repairs of the equipment.
- Good Knowledge of HVAC humidification and dehumidification systems.
- Experience in replacing the compressor, Motors, and Valves in the HVAC system.
- General facility repairs to include painting and patching walls, door repair, roof repair, etc.
- Maintain PM system to include developing new procedures and schedules and assessing the effectiveness of PM programs about equipment operation and downtime.
- Manage cost of materials, projects, and supplies; emphasis on developing and staying within budget.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for the Maintenance department.
- As needed, train employees within the department.
- Use company electronic systems BMS and other systems.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems as they arise; schedules, plans, and performs corrective maintenance duties; responds to immediate needs as required maintaining safety, quality, and throughput of the equipment.
- Coordinates work with outside service providers.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures in carrying out maintenance assignments achieving excellence in timeliness, quality of work, documentation, inspection, and communication skills.
- Responsible for following all relevant regulations (e.g. FDA, OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Maintaining all necessary documents as per Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.
- Assisting, coordinating, and supervising equipment commissioning, installation, and validations.
- Performs all the GMP maintenance work orders.

Required Experience & Education
- Minimum 5+ years' experience performing mechanical maintenance in a GMP facility.
- Experience in Operation, Maintenance and Repair plant utilities as follows: Air handling equipment and systems; Air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems; Boilers (steam and hot water), plant steam, and plant hot water; Chillers and chilled water systems; Air compressors, air dryers, and compressed air systems; Nitrogen system; Domestic hot and cold water system; Natural gas systems; USP Purified Water and distribution systems; Clean steam generator and clean steam systems; Plant sewer and waste neutralization systems.
- The position requires a minimum of in Mechanical mindset and experience in building repairs.
- Boiler certification is preferred.
- Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Steam Boilers operations and maintenance required
- Strong understanding of process design principles.
- Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
- Accommodates non-routine work schedules and ability to respond to call-ins.
- Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision and limited direction.
- Mechanical aptitude, math, and computer skills
- Experience in troubleshooting equipment in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in completing GMP documentation.
- Must communicate fluently in English and have legible handwriting.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple departments.
