What We Need
- 5+ years of pipefitting experience on Refrigeration/HVAC construction jobs (supermarkets, cold storage, remodels, new builds, etc.)
- Ability to inspect system for quality install and direct repairs as needed
- Ability to train less experienced pipefitters in best practices
- Ability to leak-check a system
- Ability to pump down a system
- Ability to use a multimeter
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and blueprints
- Ability to obtain measurements and site details to assist others in the preparation of change orders or new proposals
- Ability to communicate effectively via email, text, on the phone, and in front of management and customers
- Ability to use a smartphone and tablet
- Flexibility to work outside normal working hours, as required
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Responsibilities
- Laying out, fabricating, assembling, and installing piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for refrigeration and HVAC systems
- Removing and replacing refrigeration and HVAC piping systems as part of remodeling projects
- Selecting pipe and related materials according to plans and drawings, job specifications, and type of system
- Working with other trades, planning sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and cutting pipe
- Threading and bending pipe by hand or with pipe bending machine
- Assembling and joining piping by means of threaded, soldered, brazed fused, or cemented joints
- Securing pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers
- Testing piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges
- Completing documentation required for quality control
- Communicating with customer, supply house, and office personnel regarding equipment and construction status
- Maintaining company vehicle through regular preventive maintenance programs
