Storage Solutions is an established company in the Material Handling Industry. We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Mechanical Technician in Nashville, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Kansas City and Indianapolis. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with initiative to supplement our growing team.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
· This position requires effective communication skills, self-direction, and ability to multi-task and deliver results in a dynamic environment.· Read mechanical blueprints to assist in the installation, commissioning, startup-up and customer acceptance phase of a project.· Mechanical installation and troubleshooting material handling equipment (MHE) such as conveyors, sortation systems, pre-assembly of components, header steel installation, platform and structural steel, guard rail, racking, and pneumatic piping (aluminum, copper, black iron).· Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization.· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix mechanical issues with equipment onsite.· Pack, transport, remove and dispose of materials and equipment as needed.· Physically move materials, drive forklifts, aerial lifts, and other related industrial equipment.· Support field service requests at customer sites as needed.· Maintain task list and ensure follow-through until items are completed.· Identify the next task that should be done without instruction.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
· Technical degree or equivalent work experience.· 5 years experience installing industrial automation systems (specifically conveyors).· Strong mechanical installation and problem solving skills.· Proficient at reading blueprints and understanding installation manuals· Knowledge of how to operate a forklifts and aerial lifts and use proper rigging techniques.· General knowledge and use of hand tools and small fabrication work.· Possess and maintain a high degree of safety awareness and follows safety procedures.· Possess good written and verbal communication skills.· Ability to interact with installation supervisor, project manager, clients, and vendors.· Additional skills not required, but preferred: Welding (certified), Metal fabrication, low voltage wiring, copper pipe soldering.· Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).· Willingness to travel 75-90% within the United States.· Ability to work overtime as-needed while on feet during shifts up to 12 hours.· Ability to work in environments that may be noisy, low-light and not temperature controlled.· Valid driver’s license required to travel to customer locations.· Ability to take care of customer needs while following company procedures.· All installation technician employees are required to supply their own basic tools.
