The Security Officers are responsible for the overall safety and security of the facility. The corporate security team plays a critical role in the facility’s culture and work environment. A calm, safe, and positive working environment is a top priority for the corporate security team.
Hours are currently 8:30am-5pm Monday through Friday. Availability for other shifts may be necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill duties associated with the post assigned as part of the facility’s comprehensive security plan; maintain an orderly post and remain at the post at all times unless otherwise directed by a supervisor
- Monitor CCTV and maintain camera logs for review. Report unusual activity or safety issues to the Supervisor or Manager in a timely fashion
- Complete proper documentation related to incident reports
- Support HR, Safety and Operations business partners with administrative tasks and duties
- Monitor facility grounds and entrances to ensure only authorized personnel and authorized visitors access the facility; if assigned to the main entrance, ensure all guests follow visitor protocol and triage visitor requests
- Screen employees and contractors with magnetometers entering and leaving the facility. Check for weapons, indicators of intoxication, and unauthorized persons entering the facilities. On the way out check for hidden/stolen merchandise.
- Investigate suspicious activity, both inside and outside of buildings
- Be point of contact for police, fire, or medical personnel.
- Engage with visitors, employees, and contractors to maintain a safe and secure environment. Deter problems and detect before situations become dangerous.
- Actively participate in professional development training to ensure ongoing growth and to advance skills.
- Patrols on foot looking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, open doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits. Responds to incidents related to safety, security, and personnel issues.
- Build positive and professional relationships with faculty and staff and leverage those relationships to establish and maintain productive and safe learning environments and common areas of the building.
- Exercise dignity and respect when interacting with facility personnel and contractors at all times.
- Any other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior corporate security experience preferred.
- 20-hour security training certificate and PERC card preferred
- Must be available Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5pm.
- Additional availability preferred.
- Must have valid Driver's License.
- Must have reliable means of transportation.
- You must be a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Good attendance and performance record in previous positions.
- Computer skills, including email and MS Word.
- Experience with technology systems utilized for facility security (Electronic visitor management, CCTV, Access Control) or related experience.
- Ability to write incident reports and shift log reports.
- Ability to follow and understand written and verbal instructions which call for multiple different actions based upon circumstances and the types of individuals involved.
- Ability to see and respond appropriately to dangerous situations.
- Ability to be cross trained in safety, HR, maintenance and other related administrative tasks.
- Must be able to effectively communicate via written and electronic resources.
- The ability to effectively and diplomatically communicate with others generally and particularly in stressful situations.
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly.
- Pushing/pulling/carrying lifting may include up to 50 lbs., stair climbing.
- Frequent sitting, standing and walking, for periods up to 12 hours.
- Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, climb stairs and walk as required to perform the duties associated with functioning as a Security Officer.
- Normal vision or corrected by use of glasses and/or contacts for normal reading and viewing abilities.
- Observation skills necessary to immediately notice anything out of the ordinary.
- Must be able to perform position duties outdoors in uncontrolled climate conditions including extreme cold and heat.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment creating a positive and safe work environment.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Proficient with teamwork and collaborating with colleagues and administration.
