Summary:
The Child Mind Institute (CMI) is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as program interns for our ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center. The ADHD and Behavior Disorders Center specializes in diagnosing children and teens and providing them with effective, evidence-based treatments. CMI is seeking individuals who are interested in being trained in these evidence-based treatment programs and who can commit to 10-15 hours each week over at least two semesters or one year, starting September 24, 2024.
Program interns are required to be available, in person, twice per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. This is an unpaid, part-time,fully on-siteposition located in our NYC headquarters office. - The Program Internship provides a learning and training opportunity for individuals interested in children’s mental health, specifically with ADHD and behavioral disorders. Interns will gain experience by working directly with children and will receive training in skills from Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence based treatment for behavioral concerns.
- Participate in weekly center meetings involving consultation of cases and administrative concerns with a multidisciplinary team with psychologists of various clinical, behavioral, and school psychology backgrounds.
- Observe and participate in live clinical sessions by providing direct support to clinicians during evaluation and treatment sessions.
- Observe and participate in weekly Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) sessions for young children with various behavioral concerns. This involves both preparing clinical materials and engaging in play-based child-directed interaction as needed.
- Receive monthly individual supervision throughout the internship.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree acquired or in progress
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Prior experience working with children and/or in a clinical setting
- Professional demeanor and attitude; ability to interface with families as well as senior leadership, clinicians and staff
- Team player and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain discretion and integrity
