Attention to detail is key! The ideal candidates will have proven experience in Accounting or Finance, with ability to handle multiple tasks with consistent quality and sense of urgency. Finances are the fuel that keeps the company moving. The Staff Accountant will have a natural passion for math and intricate knowledge of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, taxes, and other financial transactions within an organization.
The Staff Accountant will play an important support role, clarifying the financial outlook of our company and its customers with precise, proactive measures. This person will report to the Director of Accounting and work closely with internal and external partners as needed. This is a full-time role based out of our corporate office in Tempe, AZ.
WHO YOU ARE FOR THE TEAM
- One or more years of corporate accounting experience; prefer Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Business Accounting or Finance
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures; multi-entity experience a plus
- Experience handling inventory and freight a big plus
- Working knowledge of accounting software platforms, Sage Intacct preferred
- High Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Excel
- Personal integrity; ability to keep customer, vendor, and company confidences
- Strong command of details and deadlines
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Experience creating proper storage, accurate cataloging, and documentation of processes
- Prefer experience in audit accounting
- You’re good at studying existing and recent legislation to ensure compliance with national, state, and local financial requirements
- You enjoy continuing professional education by participating in webinars and workshops
Requirements
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Manage and maintain integrity of inventory landed cost within accounting software, including input of freight, duty, inventory purchases, inventory supplies, and any necessary calculations
- Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations and ensure accuracy of key data between our accounting software, inventory system, and B2C platform
- Review tax software and state tax portals for Nexus and file necessary forms for each state per the required frequency (monthly, quarterly, annually)
- Execute timely and accurate payment transactions via wire, ACH, e-check, vendor portal, and credit card
- Manage American Express reconciliations for all accounts, identify discrepancies, and balance to GL
- Manage and maintain commission tracking, accrual, and reconciliation reports, obtain approval on a monthly basis, submit to payroll for processing
- Prepare monthly account schedules, margin flash, inventory dashboard, reclass entries, reconciliations, charitable accruals, and analysis for business divisions, including intercompany transactions
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, balance-sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of operational management accounts
- Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets
