Job Summary:
As an intern of the Financial Planning Group, you will have the opportunity to attend client meetings with various advisors across the country and learn the role and responsibility of a financial planning analyst at our firm.The FPG Intern will learn to create comprehensive financial planning analysis, attend client meetings, and document meeting discussions.Our advisor teams work to ensure the highest level of service and positive experience for our clients. Applicants should have strong verbal and written communication skills with background and/or interest in client service, financial planning and/or sales.
Individuals must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and be comfortable with a client facing role and working on the phone. The Internship will have a Leadership Mentor to provide an opportunity to discuss career and industry education.
Essential Job Functions for the Internship will include:
- Attending client meetings to observe, take detailed client notes, and capture actionable items for follow up.
- Enter notes into our Contact Relationship Management system to track client information and data
- Prepare and update financial plans using eMoney and proprietary tools
- Adhere to all compliance/risk procedures and follows corporate and industry protocols
- Other duties as needed

Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s degree program (industry related discipline preferred)
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, and time management skills while maintaining an attention for detail
- Interest and/or passion for development of financial services industry knowledge
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Strong communications skills (written/verbal) and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and remain flexible as priorities change
Work Schedule
Daytime Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.
Salary
The compensation for this role is $20/hour.
Location
This will be a Hybrid role based out of either the San Diego Appaloosa or San Diego Sorento Valley California offices.
Duration
The internship will be 12 weeks long starting on May 5th and ending July 25th.
Working Conditions
Professional office environment. Working inside, siting, standing. Will be assigned to a work station.
