Role:
The Bartender is responsible for the preparation and timely execution of all beverages and beverage components, including craft cocktails, draft beer and cider, wine, espresso drinks, and miscellaneous bottled beverages. Expediting our beverage menu accurately, consistently, and rapidly is the key to success for both the customer experience and overall restaurant operations. Bartenders are expected to maintain a clean work environment, while following proper sanitation practices, throughout shifts in which they will facilitate hundreds of covers.
The bartender is customer-facing and will be expected to maintain a professional disposition, while following our standards and steps of service, to ensure the highest-quality customer experience.
- This position will spend a majority of the time standing
- The individual must be able to lift and up to 35 lbs. regularly and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Responsibilities:
- Successfully completes all major area functions including customer experience, food & beverage delivery, beverage preparation, and stocking the bar stations and walk-in while following the first in first out methodology.
- Set-up station according to guidelines, maintaining a neat and sanitary space throughout.
- Prepare all beverages to house specification, with an emphasis on accuracy, presentation, and timely delivery.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by providing prompt, quality service with a professional and positive demeanor.
- Adhere to processes, guidelines, and steps and standards of service.
- Preparation includes, but is not limited to infusions, syrups, batched cocktails, and cutting items such as fruit for garnishes.
- Communicate effectively with servers and supervisors to ensure paper and POS beverage menus are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support other areas of restaurant operations as needed.
- Follow all cash-handling procedures with careful accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Possesses all necessary alcohol service and food handlers permits.
- Two years of experience as a bartender in a full-service restaurant, serving cocktails, beer, cider, and wine.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current beverage industry trends.
- Maintains a strong focus on the customer with the ability to build relationships and create positive experiences.
- Demonstrates responsible, ethical, and honest behavior.
- Possess the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays in addition to covering shifts.
- Possess an understanding and appreciation of mixology and craft beer and cider.
- Demonstrated experience with, or ability to learn, specialty coffee preparation.
- Ability to learn and accurately re-create house cocktails and commonly requested cocktails.
- Communicates effectively using clear, concise, and understandable language.
- Demonstrated ethical experience in handling cash and other forms of payment.
- Previous experience in effectively using a POS.
- Possesses the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure remaining, positive and focused during times of pressure or adversity.
- Possess the ability to learn and adhere to our procedures and steps of service.
- Is resilient and quickly adjusts behaviors needed to be successful.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Must be able to deal with different personalities in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to effectively work in both a team environment as well as independently.
- Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized.
- Possess the ability to work with others to solve problems and create solutions.
- Working knowledge of POS systems.
- Previous experience in a full-service restaurant operation.
