As a Senior Compliance Manager, you will join our EU Compliance team, and will be responsible for continuously improving the Financial Crime program and strategy for existing customer relationships, covering i) collaborating with the first line investigation teams and (ii) coordinating the cooperation with external authorities. The successful candidate will ensure that it complies with regulatory requirements and industry standards; and will manage the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls that support the program's effectiveness and ensure its alignment with the organization's overall strategic goals.
The successful candidate will also act as Deputy Compliance Officer for our derivatives business.

What you'll do
- Develop, implement and maintain Financial Crime program and strategy for existing customer relationships – including policies, procedures, and controls that enable Bitstamp to comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards and satisfy Bitstamp risk appetites.
- Ensure the program's effectiveness by continually monitoring and assessing its performance against key performance indicators and risk appetite, and recommending improvements to policies, systems and procedures.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including Compliance Operations, Legal, Risk Management, and Compliance teams.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assessments of the Financial Crime program, providing input and supporting evidence as required.
- Analyze and interpret data and information related to the customers’ activity to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that may indicate potential AML/CFT risks. Develop and monitor indicators of illicit activities.
- Collaborate on alert investigations and suspicious activity reports (SARs) performed by the Compliance Operations team, ensuring that they meet regulatory requirements, internal policies, key performance indicators and risk appetites.
- Continuous horizon scanning on all regulatory changes that may impact Bitstamp in financial crime compliance. Keep up-to-date with regulatory developments and industry best practices related to the Financial Crime program, assess their impact and recommend changes to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Collaborate on the Law Enforcement Request handling process performed by the Compliance Operations team. Develop direct and valuable cooperation's with LEAs, FIUs and relevant authorities to enhance cooperation and information exchange in the fight against financial crime.
- Provide strategic direction for financial crime investigations - develop and implement standardized policies, frameworks, and best practices for conducting FinCrime investigations. Collaborate with the first line investigation teams (Blockchain & FIAT Transaction monitoring, Fraud, SAR, Market abuse) and on issues related to investigation issues.
- Oversee financial crime investigations and intelligence gathering, providing support and guidance to investigation teams.
- Enhance the investigation cycle throughout the first line to speed up responses to identified threats and to identify improvements on our detection and prevention methods
- Act as the Deputy Compliance Officer for Bitstamp Financial Services doo.
On day one you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in financial crime compliance in banking, payments or crypto industries. Relevant professional certification such as CAMS is a plus.
- High level of understanding of all applicable financial crime regulatory frameworks in Europe and emerging trends.
- Ability to analyse and synthesise complex information and distil into readily comprehensible and practical advice relevant to the commercial, strategic and financial context, applying a risk-based approach to development of business solutions and decision-making. Demonstrate a creative and innovative approach by finding different ways to look at problems and design novel solutions.

- Autonomous, pro-active and hands-on with the ability to prioritise and manage own work effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in written and spoken English (mandatory).
- Strong interest or experience of crypto industry. Prior experience within the digital assets industry is a strong plus but not required.
- Used to working in a diverse, international, fast-moving business and fast evolving regulatory environment.
