About the role:


Borrowell’s finance team supports all areas of our business, including operations and investor relations.As a finance team member and reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will bring an operational mindset and strong ability on execute day-to-day financial responsibilities (journal entries, tax filings, reconciliations, etc.) and assist with month-end close processes and financial reporting to management and investors. You will also support and collaborate with various functional teams by providing regular and ad hoc reporting and financial analysis.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations: general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, month-end journal entries, monthly tax filings
  • Prepare month-end/quarter-end/year-end working papers and management reports
  • Apply IFRS concepts to transactions while staying up to date with changes in accounting standards
  • Assist with FP&A initiatives as required such as forecasting, budgeting, key metrics analysis etc.
  • Assist with the coordination of the annual audit
  • Safeguard company assets through development of and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
  • Participate in ongoing improvement initiatives, ad-hoc projects and reporting as assigned

Requirements


Required:


  • 2+ years professional working experience in accounting or finance functions
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline
  • Actively pursuing CPA designation
  • Proficiency with MS Excel

Nice to Haves:


  • Full-cycle, IFRS accounting experience
  • Experience with Intuit Quickbooks Online (QBO) and/or Xero
  • Experience with budgeting and/or forecasting
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Involvement in systems and process change initiatives

We are remote-first across Canada with an office in Toronto. This role may require you to attend in-person meetings and team-building events.
