The Role
We are looking for a Staff Accountant for Scaleworks family of funds as well as some of the operational companies in the portfolio. This role will be responsible for daily transaction entry including cash, accounts payable invoicing and journal entries. They will participate in the monthly close, run bi-weekly payrolls, as well as assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed. The role reports directly to the Controller of the fund.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily cash, credit card and accounts payable transaction entry in multiple legal entities
- Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll for ~150 employees
- Review and analyze payroll reports and prepare related journal entries
- Prepare accurate bank and account reconciliations for monthly closes
- Generate intercompany invoices and reconcile due to/from amounts
- Perform journal entries with supporting documentation and schedules
- Engage professionally with senior staff and asking questions when needed to ensure accurate recording
- Assist with annual workers compensation and annual audits
- Follow accounting policies and comply with internal control procedures
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency
- Maintain a high level of accuracy
- Interact with senior leadership of operational companies
Requirements
The successful candidate will be charismatic, collaborative, and have strong organizational skills to manage multiple legal entities and business priorities. Ideal candidates will have two to five years of accounting experience.
- Live in, or can relocate to, San Antonio, Texas
- BS in Accounting
- Strong understanding of US GAAP accrual accounting method
- Advanced MS Excel skills including xlookup functions & pivot tables
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Transparent communicator and proactive approach to business issues
- Strong work ethic and flexibility to changing priorities
- Excellent organizational skills with strong follow up
- Curious by nature with a sense of urgency
- Experience with Quickbooks needed, Xero a plus
