Job Summary
The Vice President, Development will manage an experienced team of professionals spanning across project development, management, and permitting. The position is ideal for an experienced professional with strategic capability and experience leading businesses, who is invested in their team members, and working in an entrepreneurial environment for a rapidly growing company. The role will also be a part of our Development Leadership Team that steers the entire development organization on tactical and strategic basis to ensure a sustainable organization and pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and fully own the project development process: identify, assess, and execute opportunities to ensure growth of the project pipeline for development.
- Lead and implement the Company’s development strategy, in close collaboration with the CDO, across all aspects of project development, with a primary focus on permitting activities for solar and energy storage.
- Develop and execute strategies to streamline permitting processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as an executive-level representative of the company, effectively communicating project objectives and milestones to stakeholders to gain requisite project approvals and to build trust internally and externally.
- Collaborate with other company leaders and various cross-functional teams to drive projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, local communities, and other key stakeholders to ensure advancement and derisking of the portfolio.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and career opportunities to the project development team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Maintain strong relationships with leaders across the organization as a member of the Development Leadership Team and push for continuity across groups to ensure efficient execution of business objectives.
- Lead major land contract decisions and participate in landowner negotiations and structuring of all aspects of a project or transaction, as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with focus on business, economics or engineering; advanced degree or MBA preferred
- 10-15 years in solar industry; commercial acumen, pipeline strategy, project development in the US market
- In-depth knowledge of IPP markets and practices with preference for PJM, MISO, and SERC experience
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proven experience in successfully leading projects from start to COD in the renewable energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory requirements for solar and energy storage projects.
- Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate challenges and drive projects to successful completion.
